Windsor Acoustic Guitar House Concert
October 19, 2018 @ 7:30 pm
This series used to be in Windsor, but now presents concerts in Santa Rosa — find out what you need to know on the Windsor Acoustic Guitar House Concert website.
Doors at 7:00. Music at 7:30. By invitation only: email scottn AT sonic DOT net.
The host is a former blues guitar student and I look forward to playing for his series and meeting new friends. Here’s what he has to say about his series:
“The Windsor Acoustic Guitar House Concert Series started in 2009 by my wife (Linda McCabe) and I (Scott Nevin) in our home in Windsor. In 8 years to 2017, we held over 50 house concerts hosting acoustic guitarists from around the world. It started off small and has grown to a loyal following of over 200+ subscribers.
We can seat 40 people comfortably and 50 uncomfortably.
We sold our home in 2017 and the house concert series has relocated to our friend’s home in Santa Rosa in the hills above the Flamingo Hotel. Our friends remain anonymous, and we still run the show, do all the bookings, etc.
We have worked hard to find high-quality musicians, some professional, some do it as their passion, but hold down a day job. We’ve hosted a few GRAMMY winners, Winfield Guitar Competition winners, and musicians that have toured with the bands of Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Al Stewart (what I can remember off the top of my head).
The music presented varies with every concert. We’ve had blues, classical, traditional, flamenco, Appalachian fiddle tunes, Celtic, and on, and on.
We’ve had kora players, banjo players, fiddle players, and mandolin players, too, so we can’t be accused of discriminating by string instrument type.
We once let in an electric guitar.
The best thing I’ve had said about our series is; “I don’t bother looking at the artist profiles anymore in your email, I just know they will be really good”.
Our website is easy: windsoracousticguitar.org (.org! we are a non-profit) We make no money from doing this. All of the donations we collect the night of the concert go to the artist. We do it for the love of sharing live music in an intimate setting.”
How’s that for wonderful! Come join us. Reservations are a must. Directions to confirmed attendees.
