Bring It On Home To Me

If you ever change your mind
About leaving, leaving me behind.
Bring it to me, bring your sweet loving,
Bring it on home to me.
I’ll give you jewelry, and money, too.
And that ain’t all, that ain’t all I will do for you.
If you’ll bring it to me, bring your sweet loving,
Bring it on home to me.
INSTRUMENTAL
God knows I’ve tried to treat you right.
But you stayed out every night.
Why don’t you bring it to me, bring your sweet loving,
Bring it on home to me.
If you ever change your mind
About leaving, leaving me behind.
Bring it to me, bring your sweet loving,
Bring it on home to me.
GUITAR:
The L’Arrivee in standard tuning, key of A.
This classic from Sam Cooke seized my attention again in the fall of 1986, when I had begun visiting North Carolina Blues man George Higgs at his home in Speed, NC. I worked up this version of the song and drove down for a session with Mr. Higgs and his neighbor, James “Bud” Powell. And damned if Mr. Higgs didn’t play me his version of the song before I got a chance to play him mine.
